The smartphone space has been locked up in a battle to come up with new innovations to stay ahead of the game with Notch designs and bezel less displays taking over the market this past year. Asus has decided to up its game with new designs for pop up cameras in three of its upcoming smartphones.

The Taiwanese company’s patents filed at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) reveals Asus’s plans to create a pop up module for its selfie camera which is similar to the mechanical pop up cameras on Vivo Next and Oppo Find X. Patents also reveal a display hole for the selfie camera. With the popularity of bezel less displays on the rise, smartphone manufacturers have taken to increase the screen size on the phone by taking away the bare minimum present at the front of these phones thus, giving rise to the notch display and pop up front facing selfie cameras. Big Android manufacturers like Huawei, Samsung are sporting a hole at the corner of the phone for selfie camera for Huawei Nova4 and Samsung Galaxy A8 thus, increasing the screen display. Honor also announced similar design for Honor View 20 smartphone.

Asus seems to go a step further and adopt both of these module features like the pop up module or the display hole module for future Asus smartphones, if reports are to be believed. As per the patents, one of the three models of Asus smartphones will have multiple selfie sensors with 3D recognition. With designs like these, Asus is all set to give its competitors a run for their money in the market.
