Google has recently announced that it would remove the unlimited storage feature from the Google photos when user would save his videos. This is a disappointing news for all the Google Photo users. The Google photo service allows all to store their pictures in the cloud storage. The service was available with unlimited storage where users were able to save videos as well. However, Google made a major Change in its service and announced that with effect from 6th December 2018, users would not be able to save the videos in Google photo cloud storage.
The service is not fully stopped by the company. Users would still be able to save their pictures in the cloud. Its just on saving the videos in the Google photo. If you have videos in your Google Photo then you must take action now. It would be a bad news for you that now onwards you would not be to store them. However, it would get stored in your Google drive.
It was is clearly stated in its announcement that some video formats would be eligible for this restriction. The list includes all the popular formats. It includes .mpg, .mkv, .mod, .mts, .m2ts, .m2t, .mmv, .tod, .wmv, .asf, .avi, .mp4, .divx, .mp4, .mov, .m4v, .3gp, and .3g2. Users who have the given format videos stored in the Google photos would get an alert ‘You have unsupported videos, They can’t be processed and may take up storage space’. With this alert they would get option to cancel or manage storage. For those who have videos in other formats than mentioned here, would not have to worry.
