The Tech Giant Google has taken a major step to safeguard the privacy of users. Concerned with User’s privacy it has launched the auto delete control feature for your location History and Activity Data. The feature would now automatically delete the user’s Location History, App and Web activity Data.

Last year in an investigation it was found that many google services were using the location data in the android and iPhone stores. Even if any users had turned the location feature off, still google services were using the data.

David Monsees, Product Manager, Google Search announced “Choose a time limit for how long you want your activity data to be saved a” three or 18 months a” and any data older than that will be automatically deleted from your account on an ongoing basis.”

Marlo McGriff, Product Manager, Google Maps, added “You should always be able to manage your data in a way that works best for you.”

Company said that when users turn on the data for the location it makes easier for Google services to deliver quality service as it helps in recommending the nearest restaurant or helping them in returning the search where they left off previously. etc.

Google Said “We work to keep your data private and secure, and we’ve heard your feedback that we need to provide simpler ways for you to manage or delete it.”

As per the company Location history is a Google Product which is turned on, but the Users have full right to edit it according to their preference.
