Tumblr is a micro blogging and social networking website founded by David Karp in 2007,
this site allows users to post multimedia and other short-form blog. Bloggers can also
make their blogs private and follow each other. Tumblr also introduced the instant messaging function, allowing users to chat with each other.

Tumblr has made an answerable decision in accordance to its app, i.e., that the app will be
blocking the adult content. This move will later adopt how the social networking sites are
used and shown as an increased desire by major media companies to restrict from which
content appears on this websites.

Tumblr’s helping center said that All the adult content, including photos, videos, GIFs, that actually show real life human genitals of either male or female or any illustrations that depict sex acts will no longer be allowed on social networking sites.

Tumblr was founded 11years ago and since then it has a tolerance policy towards the legal adult material unlike other social networking sites. And then Tumblr’s CEO, Jeff D’Onofrio said that they had spent considerable time working with the process of pros and cons of
expression in the community that includes adult content. By doing this it was clear that it
will create the opportunity for people to feel more comfortable expressing their views and
themselves.

It was also stated that any new adult content or any such thing related to it will be
deleted and flagged by algorithms after 17th of December strictly.
